Capturing the future Lucinda Bunnen Nature Preserve “En Plein Air”
Beloved photographer, philanthropist, and nature-lover Lucinda Bunnen spent over 50 years nurturing the lush, wooded landscape around her Buckhead home, creating a peaceful haven that celebrates both art and the natural world. Now, The Conservation Fund and the City of Atlanta are working together to transform this special 30-acre property into the future Lucinda Bunnen Nature Preserve—honoring Lucinda’s legacy while preserving the land’s rich biodiversity, cultural history, and artistic spirit. In tribute to Lucinda’s love of inspired creative expression, artists from across the country will gather on Wednesday, April 23 as part of the 11th Annual Olmsted Plein Air Invitational to paint the property en plein air, capturing its beauty through their unique perspectives. Their work will be featured in the Invitational’s Exhibition Gallery that same evening, offering the public a chance to experience and celebrate the land through the eyes of the artists.
With a $2.4 million fundraising effort still underway to permanently protect the property, those interested in contributing to this important conservation project are encouraged to attend the gallery event to speak directly with The Conservation Fund or reach out to Shannon Lee at slee@conservationfund.org. This unique collaboration is a powerful reflection of Lucinda’s vision, where art and environmental stewardship work hand in hand to inspire generations to come.
More about the 11th Annual Olmsted Plein Air Invitational and Exhibition Gallery Reception on Wednesday, April 23rd, 6:30-8:30 PM at 3107 Clairmont Rd, Suite A, Atlanta, GA, 30345.
