Georgia Color celebrates the tradition of outdoor painting by pairing Georgia’s finest plein air painters with some of the most picturesque areas of the state.

2024 marks the sixth Georgia Color and we return where we began, Georgia’s Beautiful Coast with activities in Savannah and the Golden Isles.

Georgia Color is a juried event exclusively for Georgia artists. All paintings created throughout the event will be showcased and available for purchase at different events, at our gallery in Savannah, and right off the easel. Fresh paintings will be added each day! Enjoy Artist Demonstrations, Talks and Gallery Walks as well!

On Thursday, October 17, join us as welcome our participating artists to Savannah and to the 6th Annual Georgia Color Plein Air. Attendees get a chance to meet the artists, preview new works and mingle over lite bites and beverages.

Friday evening, a sunset/nocturne PaintQuick. All artists are welcome to participate. The art loving public is invited to engage, enjoy and be amazed. Artists are given two hours to create a painting, frame, wire, tag, title and place it on their easel in time for judging. Prizes are awarded.

All participating artists will hold and conceal two paintings created during Georgia Color to be placed in the competition. An Awards and Collectors Celebration will be held at our Exhibition Gallery, Saturday evening October 19. VIP Entry 5:30 p.m. / All Ticket Holders enter 6:00 p.m.

  • En plein air is a French expression that means “in the open air.” Defined by outdoor painting, plein air traditionally captures landscapes and locations using natural light. Plein art painting has been a popular practice for centuries and requires specific skills and techniques. Featured Artists will put brush to canvas, capturing the autumn light over the hills and vineyards and historic towns of Georgia bringing a fresh eye to the changing lights and colors, and a variety of styles that draw from the rich traditions of plein air painting.

Artist Award Sponsorship 2025

Artists paint and create because they love what they do. But they also enjoy recognition for all the hours and work invested in perfecting their craft. During Georgia Color each artist chooses two paintings to place into competition during the show. Judges review the work and award prizes to recognize exemplary work. The coveted awards presented at our Artist Awards and Collectors Celebration (Oct 19) provide a source of pride to the artists but also help build resumes, build a clientele and jumpstart careers.
