General Information, Location and Exhibition
Georgia’s top recognized masters of plein air from Ellijay to Savannah and in between, will converge on the local scenery of Georgia’s Historic Heartland as they paint the local scenery during the second Georgia Color Plein Air Competition. This is a juried event.

Free and ticketed events throughout the week for art enthusiasts of all ages, including daily artist demonstrations, Welcome Reception and the Awards Celebration.
Fresh paintings produced will be available for purchase at various places throughout the week.
All competition paintings will be held back, revealed and available for sale for the first time at the Celebration of Art and Awards Presentation in Eatonton, GA on October 24 2020. Their work will be judged by and esteemed panel of Judges as they the vie for a purse and the pursue winning Georgia Color.

Artists will paint in and around Greensboro, GA and Lake Oconee area all day
Grab your coffee and enjoy the sunrise! Spend the day enjoy getting to know Georgia’s Historic Heartland in anticipation of the activities planned for the weekend. Enjoy self-guided tours of Madison, Eatonton and Greensboro and surrounding countryside and Lake Oconee. You are sure to see artists working hard!

Follow Artist throughout the day in Downtown Madison, GA | Firefly Bed & Breakfast, Madison (3071 Atlanta Highway, 30650) l Steffen Thomas Museum of Art located 15 minutes from Madison located in Buckhead, Ga (4200 Bethany Rd, 30625).
Downtown Madison – Downtown Madison which offers a beautiful mix of 19th and early 20th century architecture, a lovely downtown and lush rolling countryside all around.
Firefly Bed & Breakfast - This 4-acre property offers walking paths, water features, landscaped grounds, an old farm house and more
Steffen Thomas Museum of Art - The grounds offer bucolic scenes of the Heartland, great sunrises and sunsets. The Steffen Thomas Museum of Art is a “single artist” museum displaying the art of Steffen Thomas, one of only fourteen in the United States. Located in the ‘other’ Buckhead, the presence of the museum in the midst of fields and rural locale adds to the magic and peace that Steffen’s art instills in mind and body. The museum’s proximity to Atlanta, Steffen’s home turf, maintains the ties and heritage that he established as an art authority and presence throughout his life.

5:30 - 8:30 PM | Georgia Color Artists Awards & Collectors Celebration | Ticketed | Over a four day period, the 26 featured artists will paint throughout the Historic Heartland of Georgia and select their two best works to exhibit and compete for thousands of dollars in prizes.
Mask required, social distancing and CDC protocols will be in place.
Fine food by Dot to Dot will be served ‘individually boxed’. Enjoy the company of friends, wine, food and conversation with the participating artists.
The Awards and Collectors Celebration offers the first opportunity to see the entire competition show. This evening bustles with excitement and sales are brisk.
Attendees are able to purchase paintings created during the Invitational, as well as those from a library of work in advance of the general public.
