Experience the easiest process to help the "not-yet pros" create stunning paintings with Bill Davidson, one of this country's finest teachers, whose best-selling series of videos continue to inspire and encourage artists everywhere. Bill will demo and teach his new colorful Grays method for creating stand-out paintings. He will work with every student where they are: suitable for all levels. In addition, you can bring 1 or 2 of your in-process paintings and he will help you bring them to a great finish.
Benefits of the Colorful Grays method:
Creates automatically gorgeous color harmonies
Makes color mixing a breeze, even for those hard to mix colors
Nails the value with the color, one of the most important things in painting
Makes subtle temperature shift mixing a breeze
Allows the bright colors to pop
Using a transparent black and white you don’t need to carry tubes of gray, you can mix the right gray
Creates atmospheric depth easily
Nails seeing color in the right value
Creates the perfect edges
In addition, you will learn the simplest way to design in 3 gray values only - (why do you think the classical art schools would not let students use colors till after the first year?) Understanding these principles are the key to creating the easiest and most effective tonals, because all color is relative to another color (e.g. a yellow next to neutral gray changes to a greener yellow when blue is placed next to the yellow, therefore if not painting on a neutral initially your colors are all changing in color to match the tonal color, this is why with warm tonals the learner is painting too warm a painting which often looks brownish or as some call muddy. The "wrong temperature", as described by Richard Schmidt .
